Bacchanal facilitating resale of carnival costumes

Bacchanal Jamaica is facilitating the resale of costumes bought by revellers two years ago before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted carnival plans.
This is part of the band’s preparation for Jamaica’s carnival season, which is slated to begin on July 1, 2022.
Director of Bacchanal Jamaica, Charmaine Franklin, said this measure is to cater to revellers who will not be able to make that date.
“We are gladly facilitating our revellers, who can’t make it because unfortunately, they are not accustomed to coming in July and some of them had made plans for their summer already, so it’s a way of facilitating them to get their costumes resold,” she said.
Carnival in Jamaica is usually held in April each year.
Franklin outlined the process by which revellers can get their costumes resold.
“For people who had purchased a costume, they can go into their account on our website at https://www.bacchanaljamaica.com/ and then there is a tab that says ‘marketplace’ and they go to that link and it’ll assist them. You then put up the costume, once you agree to all the terms,” she said.
She also encouraged others who have yet to make a costume purchase to do so and join in the festivities.
“Anyone who hasn’t bought a costume already can purchase on the resale tap, but we are also welcoming new revellers because for some people the timing is good for them. We are looking forward to welcoming brand new revellers, brand new people.”
This will be Jamaica’s first summer carnival, and it will be held in conjunction with the country’s 60th independence celebrations.
Franklin shared that her 22-year-old band has been working assiduously to ensure it’s a success.
“We have to be doing a lot of social media, we’ve also been doing a lot of mailouts. We’ve done three mailouts since it was announced last week. So we are really trying to talk to not only our locals, but we’re also trying to talk to the diaspora. We are looking to spread it very wide,” she said.
