The resorts' leaders gave gift packages to each worker in appreciation for them providing service to the region.
Workers at the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) North Eastern region (NEPM) were celebrated recently by the management of the Sandals and Beaches resorts in St Ann and St Mary at the Authority’s office in Ocho Rios.
Sixty workers from the authority were treated royally as the resorts ensured that they were duly celebrated and encouraged to continue being empowered in their respective roles. The resorts’ leaders gave gift packages to each worker in appreciation for them providing service to the region.
Andrew Chin, a driver with the NSWMA expressed how elated he was to be recognised as a worker.
“We here at the solid waste company are oftentimes overlooked for recognition for our roles in society and especially as men. This move by Sandals and Beaches makes us appreciated. The gifts that they gave us were packaged just for us and this is even more special, as they took the time to encourage us in our roles as professionals.”
General Manager of Sandals Ochi Beach resort, Charles Blacher shared, “being able to recognise the hard-working team members here at the NSWMA is a great feat for us as a company. These men are at times overlooked due to the fact that they are constantly working to make our streets and homes healthier. Today, as we pause to celebrate and laud them for being our unsung heroes.”
Arnold Nugent, general manager for the Sandals Royal Plantation (SRP) added, “celebrating with these workers here at the solid waste management office is something that we as a resort enjoy doing. These men are responsible collectively for keeping the rest of the families protected from the many health-related crises. As a resort, our mission here today is the treat each worker more than he expects.”
The men from the NEPM region were singled out for this treat as the resorts saw the need to celebrate with them. Amidst the numerous health challenges that the country and the northeast region could face, the team from the NSWMA continue to provide that buffer of protection for the citizens. For the unwavering support that they provide for the region, the workers were able to pause and celebrate with the tourism organisation on this special occasion.
Regional manager from the authority, Tracey Fakhourie shared, “on the behalf of the workers in the northeast region of the NSWMA, we are grateful to the Sandals and Beaches management and staff for this treat. For them to take the time to celebrate our team is remarkable. These giants deserve to be recognised and singled out as they continue to give their best to the region in what they do daily.”
