Security guard held with illegal firearm in St Catherine

A team of officers assigned to the St Catherine South Police Divsion seized one Winchester Marlin rifle and arrested and charged one man during a joint police/military operation in Church Land, Gorden Pen in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Thursday, March 17.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm is 41-year-old Richard Smith, a security guard of Church Land, Gorden Pen, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that about 6:12 am, lawmen were conducting operations in the area when Smith’s residence was searched and the weapon found in his room,underneath his bed, wrapped in a bath towel.
He was subsequently charged after a question and answer session in the presence of his attorney.
However, his court date has not been finalised.
